Five Past Five Design was established in June 2013 by Navarre Ebersohn. Trained as
an architect, Navarre obtained his Master's Degree at the Tshwane University of
Technology. His dream was to open a "one-stop-design-shop" that could cover all
aspects of design and manufacturing from inception to resolution.
For Navarre, design is not only about functionality, but look and feel. That’s why
he has made original wooden bags that bridge the gap between nature and design. His
determination to uncover the endless possibilities of combining materials that are
unconventional but natural has seen him become a finalist at the Eskom Energy
Efficient Lighting Design Competition 2010; Artemide Lighting Design Competition
2012; and the Cobra Tap Design Competition in 2013; and fashion category winner of
the Samsung Inspire Design Competition 2014.
Navarre spends his days full-time at Five Past Five Design studio and lectures part-time
at the Tshwane University of Technology. Since 2013 two affiliate companies has
branched from Five Past Five Design namely Navarre & Marchand, established in
2015 specializing in bespoke leather accessories; and Luvarre, established in 2017
specializing in experimental and unorthodox furniture.
